Founded in 2013 by the United Church Home Society, the mission of Senior Wishes is to foster respect and appreciation for seniors by granting life enriching wishes to low-income seniors and those living in care facilities. Our programs have expanded to include
*Group wishes at senior apartments and care facilities
*A Veteran's recognition program with the distribution of HERO Boxes to senior veterans
*Our annual "Simple Wishes for the Holidays" program. Each year an army of volunteers delivers over 200 gift bags to lonely and isolated seniors in care facilities and in the community. For many of these seniors, our gift is the only one they receive.
*Remembering a Senior on Valentine's Day - the distribution of stuffed animals and goody bags to every resident in a selected care facility.
At Senior Wishes, we believe you are never too old to have a wish come true. We grant wishes for seniors who want to see a loved one again, take up a hobby they wanted to always learn, attend a sporting or cultural event or have a new experience. Sometimes our wishes are more simple, like providing a much needed item around the home.
Daniel always loved fishing. His wish was a day of fishing with his family.
Sharon's father is battling cancer. She wished for a flight to Florida to help take care of him.
Wilbur, WWII Vet, wanted to celebrate his 100th birthday with family and friends at his monthly senior luncheon.
Cindy had very old bedding and was in need of a new comforter set.
